I'm told that in the UK, it's known as the Harvard comma. This amuses me quite unreasonably much.

No, we definite call it the Oxford comma. I thought the Harvard comma was the US translation.

But it makes more sense to put your comma between every two items in a series than to NOT put a comma between the last ones.
