Introduction

Hi, I'm new here. You can call me Kuroi, (black in Japanese), which is an embarrassing story stemming from my dad accusing me of being "goth" years ago.

I am a Linguistics and East Asian Studies major who just finished her AA at Santa Monica Community College and will be going to UCLA.

I am pretty much fluent in Spanish, and have taken several years of Japanese. I have an interest in learning Korean, Italian, and Greek.

Okay, I must seem really boring.

I actually have a question to pose to you guys. How do you say "I love you" in your language of choice? Is the construction different? Does it signify different things? Does this different construction give the words a different meaning than it would in English?

I know Spanish is "Te amo" (literally, I love you), "Te quiero" (I want you) and "Me encanta" (you enchant me).

And japanese could be "___ (person) ga suki desu" or "daisuki desu" (I like or really like you) or more formally "Anata o aishiteru" (I think it's literally I love you but I'm not sure).

Any other languages would be greatly appreciated.
