I really want someone to knit me a scarf. Actually I would like to learn how to knit myself, but I'm finding it really difficult to learn from a book and I don't know anyone in town who actually knows how!

ohh nikki there HAS to be someone. RIGHT? RIGHT? someone at church maybe? (even though i'm a sometimes-churchgoer and always-knitter i still think CHURCH-->OLD-->KNITTERS)

orrr what book are you using? i couldn't figure it out until i got stitch n bitch, and then i had it COMPLETELY down in less than a week. although it IS always easier with help from a real live human.

i am going to be a BUTTINSKY here...

please check out knittinghelp.com if you haven't already. the video clips are SO HELPFUL. you can replay the clips over and over again (like i did) to your heart's desire. i find it difficult to learn strictly from diagrams as well. when you combine diagrams, written instructions, AND a video here and there, everything becomes so much clearer.

oh thank you for the suggestion! :) I will check it out. I think my problems with knitting are 99% due to the fact that I'm a lazy butt and haven't been motivated enough to figure out what I'm doing wrong! Videos would probably be very helpful.

oh gosh beth I WISH I REMEMBERED. the WHOLE time i was working on it, i was trying to figure that out. i bought it at needleworks about four months ago or so to knit something for larry (PLZ NOTICE THE BOY COLORS) and i threw away the labels OF COURSE b/c that's the sort of girl i am. i was thinking it was cotton, but it really feels/knits like acrylic.

i am IMPATIENTLY waiting for my huge yarn stash to arrive from yarnware.com. then i will knit up those FETCHING fingerless gloves that you see in my icon. in addition, i have a handful of christmas scarves to knit for my mum, dad, and brother. PLUS i still have to knit up a second kittyville hat for sarah and a CRANBERRY-colored hat for david. yeah, i am gonna be wonderfully SWAMPED w/knitting goodness these next few months!

Oh hello Fetching!!

I made this in Wool-Ease, and it was a super-big mistake.

Oh Lindsey, you make me want to knit all day long. It is beautiful, and I may just steal those colors! I love how it's finally starting to be autumn, because I can never get myself to knit anything when it's warm out.
