Comment!fic assortis

Nothing's more terrifying to the anal-retentive writer than comment!fic, especially when one has no Edit button. Even so, I've managed a few at jim_and_bones in the past few months, and here they are (slightly edited, because I can't leave anything alone). As always, anyone who commented on them there is not expected to comment here, and no one is expected to ( Read more... )

Ack, how did I miss those last two?

Luckily, the captain is a good multi-tasker and can lock in the flight plan, initiate a countdown, and indulge his CMO's phobias, all at the same time.

All in a day's work! LOL. I think Masters came up with a much better plan though. ;-)

The last one is just gorgeous.

Gorgeous, much like your icon--I love winter, though I love outdoorsy!sex pretty much any time of year. But I did almost freeze my ass off camping at Yellowstone, so I know where bones is coming from.

Nicely done, as always, lindmere.I especially loved the first one with middle-aged Kirk and Bones, although I maintain that in the 23rd century middle-aged isn't old at all and most people will be at their prime in those years. In my fantasies Kirk's contemporaries easily live to push 140-150 years. Never understood why Patrick Stewart/Picard never got the slack that Shatner/Kirk did for not being a spring chicken. At any rate, enjoyed all the mini-fics. Kirk and Bones 4evah!

You know, that's a great point about Picard and Kirk--I suspect the answer is "Shatner's ego."

I watched Trek VI the other night and thought that I liked the fact that the crew was solidly middle-aged by the time the movies began. They ended up dealing with themes that you don't often see in this era of "younger and hotter"--parenthood, disappointment, aging, wisdom, and all that.

And thanks as always for the lovely comment, faithful friend!

Don't I hear you. And yet, I think that makes them all the more worthwhile in loosening us up.

I love all of these, but four I have babbled about before. The first, though -- oh, i want that to be their canon, 35 years into the future of the future.

Jim and Bones are such naturals for the middle-aged-and-older thing, I don't know why I don't write that more often. In RL, I suspect that Karl Urban will age very well indeed (good bone structure FTW), so perhaps we'll get to see for ourselves.

I have been so busy with work that I'm way behind on my reading, but I have your last few bookmarked and ready to pop into my mouth like so many tasty bon-bons the next time I have tea and leisure. Yum!

Bare Bones? I'm so there with them all hoping to get a peek :)

and the first one melted me a bit, i love the thought of Old!Jim&Bones, especially of them still being in love and sprightly.

(will read the third one another day)

They're adorable, aren't they? I know Karl Bones is going to be smokin' as an older guy, plus he was born old. Jim seems to be taking it harder, plus (as I well know) time is cruel to light complexions.
