The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix - Oh my god, you guys. I love these books so. Fucking. Much. This is the sort of crossover fantasy work that gets shelved in Young Adult but ought to be equally appealing to adult fantasy fans. I don't know if I should be happy or sad I'm nowhere near a Godiva store. Is Parable of the Talents as fucking depressing as I thought it was going to be? I love Butler, but there's only so much of her I can take at a time.

Yes. Yes it is.

I love it passionately but have no plans to purchase it because I kind of don't want to read it again. It's like The Handmaid's Tale...the depiction of fundamentalism is a little TOO accurate.

I don't know why! They're so great!

I loved the idea of the bells so much I ended up adapting the concept for use in a text-based rpg I was playing at the time.
