o.O!!?

If nothing else, this must surely prove the poor guy was totally off his rocker. It did seem unfair to me that he got sent to jail at all (this is assuming he did!). Although I suppose they had to put him somewhere for his, and others, safety while they organised for him to get psychiatric care.

I'm sure he did have some kind of encounter with the police...I doubt he fabricated the thing out of whole cloth. But remember we haven't seen the police version of things, which the court hints is significantly different. The court in this case was ruling on whether the case should be summarily dismissed without going to trial at all, and for that purpose they have to assume that the plaintiff is right about all the disputed facts. Since they didn't reach the actual merits of the case, the police version wasn't relevant ( ... )
