Amazing writing, as always. Looking very much forward to the next part.

That kiss turned me from a reasonably cynical 29 year old to a flailing, Bieber-squeeing 14 year old. Dammit. If I wasn't so embarassed, I would ask for a *longer* kiss next time, please.
Having gotten all that off my chest - it was a remarkably action-y chapter, and the cliff-hanger was just *mean*. Cunningham really has no reedeming features, has he? And Rooster has so much figured out what's going on with LaBeouf and Mattie - but does he approve? He's clearly fond of Mattie, but does he believe that L is taking advantage?. I love this whole dynamic between the three of them - it's deliciiously almost Austen-esque.
But that kiss...
*flails some more*

Yes, Rooster's pretty certain he knows what's going on. Whether he really has the right idea about things is another matter. Mattie, meanwhile, is remaining stubbornly obtuse, of course. What would a romance be without at least one person having no clue they're in love, right?
Thanks so much for the delightful comment - I'm writing as fast as possible for a more speedy update, I promise!

Re: the Romance. She wouldn't be *Mattie* if she just swooned, y'know? I think it's wonderful the way you keep her in character.

Mattie's been a very fun character to write, in that respect. With another, more accommodating character, it would be easier to fall back on certain familiar romance tropes, but Mattie being so firmly Mattie, she really makes me (and LaBoeuf, if you want to look at it that way) work for the outcome. It's fun!
