Yes, I'm still alive and well, though I wouldn't be surprised if some people thought otherwise, considering how little I've posted in the past few months.
What happened to Vindaloo? Is Vindaloo off the table?
Vindaloo was never on the table. I can't even call it a WIP. It was an experiment, and one that I may or may not revisit sometime in the unforseen future. I'm sorry if that disappoints you, but after struggling mightily to write a couple of kissing scenes, I'm not sure if I can handle kinky erotica.
Thanks for the London report, especially the photos, which are marvelous. It must have been really neat to look at all the outfits. (Three and his red-lined cape <3 ) Which era is the last TARDIS pic from? (I want to say Four, because that's how I remember it, and also on account of the scarf on the hat rack.) I'm glad to hear you had fun :)
And you've reminded me that I want to catch up on your fics, Lyonnesse and otherwise!
It was a lot of fun. I think that older TARDIS console is probably from Four's era, but could also be Three and Five. They didn't redecorate as often back then.
...could also be Three and Five. They didn't redecorate as often back then.
If I remember correctly, Three, Four and Five had console rooms that were similar to that, at least. (I haven't seen enough of the other classic eras to know about theirs.)
I prefer the less shiny and more rough and cobbled-together look of Nine and Ten, though. Although Eleven's -- as well as being steampunky --is a little of both. (And I'm tickled that the TARDIS incorporated the pencil ball into the console.) I like Eight's steampunk/antique-y combo as well.
...So, after typing the above, I went ahead and researched a bit on Wikipedia's TARDIS entry. (Which has at least a few small errors, but I think this material is reasonably accurate at least.) Quotes from there, and my commentary, below:
...the secondary console room used during Season 14 in 1976/77 [Four's era, which is comprised of Sarah's last 3 eps, the bridge episode, and the first 3 with Leela], which has wood panelling and a more antique feel to it.I have fond memories of that one as well
