Nothing has changed this year for my income, or the AH's, from when we applied for our government daycare subsidy this time around, and when we applied for it last time around. But this time, the way that they've done the math says that we've somehow worked less eligible hours, but for more money, resulting in them reducing our daycare subsidy by 4 ( Read more... )

I misread this the first time as "reduced by 1/5" and I was thinking "Gee, that's not *so* bad." I think I misread it because "reduced by 4/5" is FUCKING INSANE on their part.

You know what? I couldn't work the job of that person on the phone who gets to tell you those things. Because unless you have absolutely no soul at all, how do you tell a family that and not have it bother you?

The person we spoke to? Definitely soulless.

I'm not that hopeful about the appeal, but we're going to try anyway because I'm nothing if not stubborn in the face of impossible odds. Probably watched too much Whedon.

The appeal is not looking good. I don't know if the person before did the math wrong, or the person now is just being particularly strict, but they were pretty clear with the 'fat chance, but go ahead and knock yourself out if you really feel like it' part of the conversation.

I'm gonna try, even if I don't think it'll do anything.

I love my wee people, and I'm glad they're here, but the next person who tells me that twins isn't that much more difficult or expensive than having a single baby gets a mace to the head.

I will go out and purchase a mace for this purpose. I am sure I have things I could pawn.
