Snafu

2009 has finally reached clusterfuck status for me. My catten, the one that belongs to me, my favourite catboy in the whole world, even though we're not supposed to have favourites, is really sick. Emergency trip to the vet after office hours sick. Fuck. My. Life.

Pictures and kitty medical details under the cut. )

I have all kinds of good, wonderful, healing thoughts for your baby.

Also a bit of hopefully comforting stuff to say:

Pretty much the exact same thing happened to my Doyle. I didn't notice, and he got completely blocked. I had to rush him to the emergency vet, and they did surgery. Said they'd never seen so many stones in such a small bladder, and if I hadn't got him there in time, he probably would have died.

That was about twelve years ago. He's been fine ever since. Not that he still doesn't panic me occasionally, but he really was fine after. If the vets say your boy will be okay, he very probably will be.

*HUGS* to you both.

They've been saying 'crystals', not stones, but I don't know. Either way, the dude couldn't pee at all, and he was damn sick by the time we got him in there on Saturday. He's gonna need new food once he gets home, and filtered water, and a vet bill the size of my HOUSE, but what are you gonna do?

I really hope he's going to be okay, hopefully just like your Doyle was.

*nod* Yeah, they're technically crystals. I always hear them called bladder stones, though.

If what he ends up needing is a high-protein food (that's what Doyle needed, but there are different types of crystals, and Snafu might not have the same one), I recommend Innova Evo - mine have been on it for ages, and it's great. Not cheap, of course, but cheaper than the vet food and even higher protein and all-natural. And they can both eat it, because have you ever tried to feed two cats two different foods? :P

I'm still sending good vibes your way! *HUGS* It sucks when your baby hurts, I know. Just think of all the cuddling you can give him when he's home.

*snuggles right back*

The last they updated me, he was doing really well. They haven't had to sedate and catheterize him again, but they're still having to give him some help, so until he's self-sufficient, they won't let him go home.

I'll call them tomorrow morning for an update. Keep thinking the good thoughts, dude.

mwah.

Me too. I hate when stuff like this happens to the wee creatures we're supposed to keep safe. I'm going to call them tomorrow for an update.
