Could you hear him purr all the way across the room? We had a big red-and-white tom who was like that. Tiny when he was a baby, grew to be a solid boy with a huge heart.

Rufus was gentle in every way. He had a soft cry, and a soft purr. He was the guy who all the girls napped beside and got baths from. He was the guy who welcomed each new addition to the family wholeheartedly. He was the guy who stayed in bed with me when I was sick or recuperating from surgery.

He was special in so many ways. Robert called him my boyfriend, but he was so much more than that. There is never going to be another cat that is going to touch my heart the way my Rufus did. I am grieving so hard.

From one lover of a gentle giant orange guy to another, I can tell you with authority that he was one heckuva looker. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.
