so my dad was able to pop down to south hadley yesterday evening to hang out until tomorrow when he leaves to deliver a paper in cambridge. we had some great indian food last night, then today we went to the bookmill and i did the least amount of work possible on my thesis. we went for a loonnngg walk, had a picnic in amherst then, the highlight

(there's a homeless man who wanders the farmer's market chattering about naïvety who I've been wanting to take to lunch just to experience having a homeless man who I find fascinating look at me funny. I'm envisioning the tea house; porcelain cups, white linens, delicately carved wood, and the cardboard 'vietnam vet' sign poking out under his beard.)
Good luck with the teach america stuff! I didn't know it was 'competitive' but the few people I know are bitter about the entire system, so I probably don't have a balanced view... where would they send you? Is that what you're finding out, etc?
