His name is Tyrell. I'm old enough to be his mother. Oh, and he's a fictional character. But when I think of him I get all smiley and mushy on the inside

Lorraine, I have an Oregon question for you. It looks like we'll be headed that way this summer. Do you know anything about the Kennedy School hotel? Would you recommend it for a family? It sounds "interesting" but it's hard to tell if it is really just too far out there.
Linda--how cool that you'll be in Portland this summer! Maybe we could meet up at Powell's?
As far as the Kennedy School Hotel goes, I've never actually seen it or heard of anyone that stayed there. But, McMenamins is a wonderful local company that has bought out quite a few old landmarks and buildings and have converted them very tastefully into pubs and other venues. They feature local microbrews and musicians, and I've always enjoyed going to the different pubs.
I think it sounds great! I wonder if Lisa (lkmadigan) knows more about the actual hotel.
Thanks, Lorraine. I'm glad to hear that they are a company doing good. I'm going to explore a little further.
We will definitely be spending large blocks of time at Powells. As far as my daughter is concerned, it will be far better than going to Disneyworld or the like. I hope you'll be around then. I'll let you know as plans firm up.
I was satisfied with the ending, too. The problems we wish could have worked out better for Tyrell moved inexorably to their unhappy conclusions, while the things that showed us Ty's potential were perfectly realized.
Hmm.
That sounds pedantic, but I mean it in a heartfelt way!
