I think any female can relate to having people ask, "Are you pregnant?!" when you want to announce any kind of news. It's fucking annoying. -_-
That sucks, though. :( Miscarriages are hard to deal with. I'm sending good thoughts in their direction. Hopefully their next attempt is a success at a Gingerican.
Anytime a woman is in a relationship with a man and says she has an announcement, of course people will automatically think she's pregnant. You're battling against an ocean of women who like to make a big deal about announcing their pregnancy. Heck, I'll have people tease and ask if I'm pregnant even though they know full well I'm a virgin whenever I happen to have news to share. Because, people.
Anyway, that's sad she miscarried! My older brother's wife miscarried their first pregnancy. I always wonder what the kid would have been like, but they have since had two more pregnancies that made it to term.
