Wha? I'm supposed to be writing introspective posts? When am I supposed to have time to post about fart jokes and stupid videos?

"A shortage of time will do that to you".

^ Hit the nail on the head here.

Not that I/we don't have the same thoughts, the same meanderings, the same sort of soul-searching that one does when there aren't children to rear, but those thoughts are caught in quiet moments and quiet places, generally very far away from a place to write them down.

If I'm near to a computer, there's either kids or a home to pay attention to, either of which always take precidence over an LJ entry. =(

At the risk of getting flamed by those who don't agree with me...

I think that having kids may be part of it, but solely as a part in The Things That Cause Transition. I would say maturity instead of transition, but I don't always feel grown up.

It's like why I don't write poetry anymore. I'm not that angsty teen/young 20s girl anymore. I'm still a seeker, but I'm not compelled by it as much as when I was younger. I just kind of mellowed and accept what comes at me.

Sure sometimes I still want to talk things out, but mostly what I write are of the non-deep variety: look at my pretty pen! Check out my art! Stompy boots! Shiny!

Also, I will amend what I said above that having kids is a part, yes, but a HUGE part, because they take so much of a parent's time.

I'm with Sy here. Its not that we don't have the introspection, but that we have it in private times, mostly away from the computer.

Having Kids really DOES change EVERYTHING. The introspection does change; it's more about parenting, making the right decisions for your kids and you and things of that nature. It's VERY Deep and thus not easily written down as when you get interrupted (which you will) then its hard to come back to it and the thoughts are not things you can just post what you've written so far as well, they wouldn't make sense!

This is why I do like Facebook so much. I can jot little thoughts and my "what's happening" without the need to make a full post about it (and said post being just a list of things we've done); yet those who care for "updates" know what is going on with us and enjoy it.

When I do have something more to say, I still do come back to lj and post, but its sporadic at best.
