Yep, I also heard this stuff from people who got interviewed in Google. I also heard that they prefer programmers with Ph.D. Weird thing, did you met good programmers with Ph.D.? People with Ph.D. I met were never interested in programming. Algorithmers and some senior architects are fine, but programmers...

And though I would have like to try to work for Google. It should be interesting experience and nice for resume too.

May be I'll try to send them resume in a year or two.

That's what I thought, but after one engagement in 2005 and one as recent as this march I still saw the same things. Having said this, things are changing in google and I could see this change by comparing the two interview rounds I had.
