yeah, freezepop is pretty cool. i liked their song in guitar hero 1 more though. synth isnt too uncommon in music though, especially in indie and, lately, hardcore.
anyways, there has always been hope for the music industry, as long as you look past the mainstream. i can say the same for japan-- i hate the japanese mainstream more than the american mainstream, but i love their underground stuff (noise rock, drone, etc). if you like freezepop, i recommend looking into other american or european indie bands.
Jem, Jem is excitement, Oooo Jem... Jem is adventure... Oooo Jem - glamour and glitter fashion and fame! Jem is truly outrageous; truly, truly, truly outrageous (Ooo Jem!)
I saw Freezepop in Concert in 2002, I believe. They're great - nice people. They went to the local Mexican cafe and took a bunch of fans (including myself) with them.
I agree with the above person - in actuality, I like American Indie and European indie much more than anything Japan puts out. You just have to dig a little.
Fancy Ultra Fresh is great (I especially love the Stakeout video and Boys on Film), but you should also checkout Freezepop Forever (released before) - I think it's marginally better.
I also own Fashion Impression Function, a Remix EP which is great just for the song Shark Attack, and Hi-Five My Remix, which isn't as good, but the remix of Lazy is nice.
If you have trouble finding any more of their stuff, I can upload some things for you :D
Ooo, I didn't mean "Boys on Film" has a video, I was just saying I liked that song. But "Stakeout" has a video that came with my version of "Fancy Ultra Fresh".

Synth isn't uncommon, I know, but what is uncommon is finding it used well. I mean, some underground trance and techno music is absolutely dreadful D:
I'll try digging around now that I know the existence of a US synthpop group that sounds anything like this :D

I'm already so jealous you got to see them. They came to Canada recently, but that was Montreal.
I didn't even know that Stakeout and Boys on Film has videos (I guess I shouldn't have assumed all the videos on YouTube were their only ones).
Eek you have Hi-Five My Remix? That's out of print! If I have trouble downloading it on Soulseek this weekend, can I request it from you?

:D If you have trouble, of course~
