my source for these things is www.dictionary.com--it's really brilliant. i use it all the time.

'hoard' is a word, so of course spellcheck wouldn't catch it. it means to accumulate, or stockpile, like 'squirrels hoard nuts for the winter.' horde means an enormous group or a swarm. it's a homonym. and just smack me if i'm being a know-it-all. *hugs*
