The UNIT dating controversy apparently began when instead of saying that she was from "1984," Elisabeth Sladen just said she was from the twentieth century (I think Kevin Lindsey messed up his lines a bit). So people didn't know exactly when The Time Warrior took place, and then that led to craziness. Somehow.

Yeah, I think a lot of it spiraled out from Sarah Jane's line. What she said was "I'm from 1980." Hey, maybe she MEANT to say "I'm from THE 1980S." That would've made it work.

She says it in the Pyramid of Mars, which is Tom Baker's second season. So you definitely haven't quite gotten there yet. XD
