....I can't draw. Nothing's coming out right. Everything's ugly(er).

Heh, it finally happened. I finally lost the one thing that was keeping me sane.

Go out and try new things. While it might be mostly subconcious, art inspiration is usually brought from your own experiences, so new ones can sometimes bring it back. New subject matter can be good too, as it may be your brain is getting tired of going over similar ideas.

Personally I'm trying cooking at the moment and finding it thoroughly enjoyable. I'll probably never be a master chef or anything, and wouldn't particularly want to be, but it's fun learning something new and stretching yourself in new directions.

Man, I can understand this sentiment like you wouldn't believe.

I've found that if I take a break though, it'll go on long and I'll actually end up more afraid of picking up a pencil than before. So the best thing I've done is when I'm ready to burn everything I've ever done- switch styles.

I'll go on this little cartoon/chibified rampage where I can torture them to my heart's content. I find that because I don't have to worry so much about line and getting things right (they're starfish with heads) I generally manage to enjoy it enough that I keep drawing. And for me I've noticed that my 'skill' comes entirely though hand-eye coordination. If I don't draw, my hand starts getting lazy.

And I second the 'artistic eye has lept past the hand' thing above. I never thought about it that way but it's so true.

Still, I'm sorry you're going through this. If it helps, I absolutely adore your art and your sense of line. It's gorgeous. I wish I could say something more constuctive but I just drool over your art.

I've lurked and followed your art for awhile, and have seen the progress over the years, so I have faith you'll find it again. Just don't put to much pressure on it.

I just hope you find it in time to do some Soul Calibur 4 fanart. (Kidding.)

Anyway, here's hoping you don't give up from a random internet guy. Which as we all know, everyone loves advice by random internet guy.
