The most important thing is that the fic/art stand alone. I would probably suggest you not base it off another fanfic for the sole reason of it relying too heavily upon the original. We want all works to be self-contained.

Y and I are still working out the finer details of posting. A lot of it was dependent on how many people we had sign-up. They definitely won't be posted at once, but I imagine we'll end up posting them two a day. Otherwise, we have roughly 20 participants and 20 days of posting would take us very close to the busiest time of the holidays.

We'll definitely give you guys a heads up before we start posting as to when and how frequently things will be happening. It's a very tight timeline for these sorts of gift exchanges, so we're playing it by ear this time around. Hopefully, that sates your curiosity. And I'm sorry I couldn't give you a more definitive answer.
