Okay, well maybe "Flowers in the Attic" (was that the title?), just because the level of fucked upness is unreal. I mean who locks their kids in an attic, and then doesn't expect them to have sex and start a family of their own? That book is awesome. The best part is that that is only the beginning, there is like four more books after that, all of which are more messed up than the last. Man, you know there was some B level porn based on that shit.
Umm, okay maybe not the best book to recommend to youth. Is it wrong that I totally want to go buy Flowers in the Attic now?

I thought about reading that book a couple weeks ago to. All my VC Andrews books were lost over various garage sales.
What's really most disturbing, to me, these days, is the age at which me and all my friends were reading these. Incest, rape, sex, etc.. in like grade 6-7. Yikes. I'm not letting my kids read til they're 40!!! ;)

Yeah, I know. I mean they talk about the internet and the sex kids can access now, but man, between Andrews and Rice, I think fucked up sex was quite easy to get your hands one.
You know, once VC Andrews died, they continued making books under her name, but they were way tamer and geared towards teens. I sometimes wonder about some poor 13 year old who picks up Flowers in The Attic expecting some teenage mystery, and find brothers screwing sisters. Man, I forgot about the grandma, she tried to kill them with poison right?
A few months ago, I ran across it in Bolen Books. The best pat? The cover was a photograph of some beach scene, with two blonde teeangers hugging and the sun in the background. It was so wrong, I mean, this is the one book you do not want to make appealing to 11 year olds.
Okay, I totally have to get my hands on that book.
