The vampire crime investigator's story begins with vampire killings that were not done by a vampire.

I wonder why crime investigator is always a vamp job. Why not something like night watchman, or the late shift at Meijer?

Didn't I tell you this one before?

In half the stories (in this case Blood Ties, and also Angel) it's some human that's doing the investigating that stumbles across the Supernatural world. If they're a cop, they usually don't last long being a cop because the inability to continually cover it up in the paper work.

In the cases where the vampire is the investigator/cop (Forever Knight, Moonlight, Angel), they're doing it for some sort of redemption, and because their unique skills over-qualify them for the job.

These are classic storylines. It's just as standard as the hero's journey.

Still, I think there are many fine stories to be told in the realm of "disgruntled vampire milkman" :P

Then you get right on that. Be sure to send me the story when you're done.

Hmmmm... I do believe I said awhile back that Moonlight reminded me of Forever Knight...

Well I just started watching it. There is the one difference that the vampire is a P.I. instead of a cop! And in Blood Ties, the vampire is only friends with the P.I.
