I used to call the enigmatic nature of some writing completely maddening.

And then, I realized that the story did not so much lie in the words on the page, but in the white spaces between, where the imagination can flourish and create and before you know it, there is a whole world behind a few simple lines.

In 1300-odd words you have brought your audience through nearly every human emotion, and opened up a universe of possibilities and what-ifs and wondering.

Bravo.

Thank you ever so much! I know what you mean about maddening enigmatic writing. This started out because I was thinking about the possible similarities between Lily and Narcissa, but in the end Narcissa couldn't be made to sound like Lily without sounding less like Narcissa. At least I hope she sounds like Narcissa could sound.

A whole world between a few lines ... I like that. That's the nature of stories.

This is a quite remarkable piece of prose. You have rendered me speechless;I want to tell you how it struck deep chords in me but the feeling is too deep for frail words to encompass.

If I had only half your talent. You are my favourite author, and yes, I shall turn and be lost in the crowd now.

That's the thing about Antonia, as many people read her stories, she never lets anyone get lost in her crowd.

*snort* You are too much sometimes. I didn't think I had a crowd. Maybe an exclusive crowd of the three-person variety. Sort of an intimate coctail party crowd ...

*double snort* What kind of cocktail party only has three attendees? Funny girly. I do intend to review this story, by the way LOL Once I stop rambling enough to give it another read ;o)

This is truly a great story. And for a woman who hasn't given birth, you have described Narcissa's feeling remarkably astute.

Thank you! And it's wonderful to be told I got the birth feelings right from someone who would know. Most of the time I have to go with my imagination on these things and I always fear I'll have it completely wrong.

Wow. Seriously wow. I would love to write you an elegant, eloquent review, but the words just won't come. I'm blown away! Beautifully written from start to finish.

I have been rereading some of my favorites of your fics. I actually read the Helga and Godric one to my creative writing class. They loved it. I think I need to read more fics from you. Feel like writing?
