And with this single sentence, you had me on the floor in tears: The only difference is that Jack knows the Doctor would come back for her if he knew - whereas he’s chosen to abandon Jack.

In my justification of Jack's treatment of Donna, he's just so used to the Doctor warning him off his companions that Jack's initial response is "Nope. Off-limits. Taken by the Time Lord." He only flirts with the companions now when he's trying to irk the Doctor. I am, however, gonna get an answer from Barrowman later this summer when I see him at Comicpalooza. I'm interested to see how explains Jack's behavior to a redhead dressed as Donna.

Whoa...

You know, I'm not one for fics where Donna's with someone other than the Doctor, but this made me believe Jack/Donna was possible. And what a tragedy for both... I could make so many psychological comments on their behaviors and thoughts.

I came here because I saved your fic "To err is human" a long time ago and here's where I landed. Wonderful. I love when someone gives Jack some depth and doesn't portray him as just another Barney Stinson. Donna is by far my favourite companion. So thanks for sharing!
