soooo pissed....

So it appears I’ll be graduating in Two-Thousand-NEVER due to fucking budget cuts...

I received an e-mail stating that my Summer B class has been cancelled because three more people were needed to fill the class. Because of three students I am going to be pushed back more than a year. The class I was supposed to start on Wednesday is a ( Read more... )

That's how it is in NJ too. They totally cut budgets and now people like myself and my best friend are fucked. He's a Biochem major at Rutgers and he got pushed back a year because a seminar ran the same time as one of his major-specific pre-req classes. He can't graduate or even take 2-3 classes until he takes that seminar, YET, they offer it at an unconvenient time to people OF THAT MAJOR THAT NEED IT ( ... )

Sadly, that doesn't surprise me in the least. Prerequisite classes can fucking bite me...

I'm worried that I'll be sitting in the same boat as you regarding the semesters in which you take only a class or two. In which case I guess we'll be there twiddling our thumbs, waiting even longer on the most expensive piece of paper known to man.

Luckily enough I'm in the process of talking with the head of the department and she's seeing what strings she can pull and where... but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm just still so pissed its not even funny....

Thanks Squashy. You're lucky if it didn't get canned... something like upwards of 200 classes had the plug pulled on them this Summer.

You still leaving UNF or are you staying the whole way through to get your diploma?

My degree got totally re-done part way through and did not fit my schedule at all. Classes were canceled, some were only offered one semester, some only at night which was when I worked, etc.

My department advisor joked one time that she was just going to give me my degree because they caused me soooo much trouble.

So anyway I had to stick around an extra year. My least three semesters were two classes, two classes, and one class.

Yeah, the end-all be-all class I HAVE to take, Senior Portfolio is like that, as well as certain must-have-to-graduate classes.

The head Professor is/was in the process of rewriting the curriculum so that a ton of what I saw as pointless classes were removed even though I had already taken them. I guess that's just the way it works sometimes when life is a bitch like that.

Here's something, if it makes you chuckle at all...

University of North Florida = UNF

UNF to us stands for U Never Finish.

I've had to put my further schooling off as well. Although I am going to be "graduating" in August, an Anthropology degree is of little to no use for me ( I realize this NOW...). I was planning on going back to school in the fall at FCCJ and getting a certificate in graphic design; I was all signed up for classes. But with the job market like it is, I can't find a decent job in time for payment and therefore I can't afford it, so I have to get some jobs and save up some money for later.

And YAAY FOR GETTING MARRIED BEFORE YOU GRADUATE. Welcome to the club!!! It's so funny, people think it's a bad idea... but why? I mean, what's really different? Well, aside from the fact you won't be able to pay attention in class because you're staring at your left hand. Tee hee.

In closing: Yaay mawwiage! Yaay graduating at some point in the future! Yaay!

Damn job market. Damn economy.... Yeah, I was looking at the graphic design degree at UNF but its too cutthroat and I know of other colleges that have a program just as good as UNF's but instead of being a bunch of elitists, they welcome you with open arms.... never thought about trying FCCJ for a second degree, but I just may look into that if I stay in Jacksonville.... yet another reason why I love you!

So I'm confused, are you going to quit your job after you graduate or are you just looking for a position that pays more because you have a little piece of paper with your name on it?

Hehe.... Yeah, I'm sorry but just because one part of my life is being put on hold by a force I can't really control, does NOT mean I'm slowing down the progress of the other parts which of course include becoming Mrs. Joshua James Baxley. And I know I'm probably going to piss off a few people with that, but they'll get over it. ;)

No, I'm not going to quit my job. My position gets eliminated since it's based on the fact I'm a student. My appointment ends August 16th. Blah. However, I don't really want to work for the NPS anymore. Since I'm a lame duck, they've been treating me like I'm useless, and I won't have that. I'm going to stay till August because it pays a ridiculously good amount for a part time job.
I've gotten my job back at Hallmark, and I am going to double up in a week or so to save up some money and reestablish myself as the Queen of Hallmark, Bitches. It won't pay nearly as well, but it's a for sure thing.
Plus, I've got a guaranteed full time job at SafeTouch once someone quits or moves around in the company. So Hallmark is just an interim job until someone leaves SafeTouch. (Full time, benefits, 10-7 Monday thru Friday, and Paul and I can carpool!) So, until then, Taco Bell dinners ahoy!
