The Mysterious Workplace is having Mysterious Workplace Politics, which causes me intense stress. Workplace Politics which were supposed to cut down on my stress have only served to double it. I am awaiting the advent of meta-stress, the state in the which I spend all of my time worrying about how stressed out I am. The Powers That Be inform me ( Read more... )

If the only things that have really changed about your work and life are how you perceive it, all is not lost. I find myself starting to feel this way sometimes as well, but I usually find myself distracted from stress as frequently as I get distracted from anything else. I believe I owe you a CD of inspirational music, btw. PM me your address here or on the Facebooks.

I feel I am doing my job very badly right now. One section of my online course agrees with me and is all bent out of shape. Sigh.

Same here. And I hated this job to begin with.

Alas, I love the Mysterious Workplace. I love my job. This is why it is especially upsetting to have been treated this badly by workplace politics.

Is it Politics or Workplace Politics? If you see what I mean.

It is Workplace Politics, made more difficult by the fact that I spend most of my time in the workplace covering Politics.

Boo. This job and you were clearly meant to be together, as evidenced by your many hilarious/endearing blogposts on the topic. Surely these Politics, like all Politics, shall pass.

I am not so sure that it will all work out. What keeps coming out of my boss' mouth is, "Gee, we're really happy with you and your work!" but what I keep seeing seems to indicate that she hates me in some deeply personal way.

Bleah, that sounds maddening. I have enough trouble believing my boss doesn't secretly hate me even when both his actions and words seem to agree otherwise.

Argh ... that is so frustrating. Workplace politics always struck me like past lovers and relationships when dating someone. It literally has nothing to do with the person to whom you are acting all doe-eyed or comfortable socks in bed on Sundays (depending on the length of your relationship), but it does. Really what does it matter to you that their completely gorgeous and successful ex who looks like they never had a pimple or had the flu for three days of completely gross bathroom camping is suddenly wanting to friend them on Facebook and they're chatting ( ... )

I don't know how I am going to continue to work at the Mysterious Workplace in the face of these Workplace Politics. I think that this is what it must feel like to be dumped. It's a little like getting shot in the stomach, only I am still expected to come to work in the morning.

From the sound of it, I'd say you feel more like someone who knows they're going to be dumped any day now but can't work up the nerve to end it themselves because you're holding out hope that you're suspicions are wrong and you'll all have a laugh about how silly you were being years later ( ... )

I suppose it's more like finding out that you have been cheated on in a committed, monogamous relationship. The Mysterious Workplace is not going to break up with me, but I am not sure how we can be expected to make this relationship work in light of recent events.
