Radio Silence

Nov 29, 2010 00:31

I think that this may be the longest I have gone without writing a blog post in quite some time. I don't know why I went silent. All I know is that somewhere in the first week of November I tried to write a post about attending the Day of the Dead parade in furs and facepaint, with an armload of marigolds, but I couldn't make it come out in a way ( Read more... )

illness, silence, november

My grandfather was a less than wonderful human being. Most visits to Colma involve my grandmother getting teary-eyed and choosing to forget his many faults, while the rest of us stand around looking uncomfortable.

Placido Domingo was profoundly impressive. It turns out that Famous Tenor is famous for a reason.

Oh how utterly awful. I'm so sorry you're sick. Soup and a couch seem like good options. I suggest warm salt water gargles against the encroaching razor blades, and ibuprofin against the general hurting.

Such a drastic change in your personal weather front in just a single day! You were energetic, charming, and even a bit effervescent Saturday night, which was delightful in the extreme.

I still haven't been able to journal about the nice things I did during the two weeks of October that got lost to playing hostess and etc. And that was a two weeks that involved buying shoes!!! This week got away from me again too.

I suspected that there was a bit of a cold coming on by Saturday night, but I didn't think that it would hit me quite so hard as it did on Sunday morning. These things happen. I will be pleased if it passes quickly enough for me to get in a light workout this evening, because not being able to move is starting to drive me profoundly stir-crazy.

It was lovely to see you on Saturday as well. I ought to go to Temptation more often. I seem to dance much more at Cat Club than I do at Ye Olde DNA.

I appear to have recovered enough to put in some time at the climbing gym. If you come down to the Very Serious Circus School tomorrow, we can play.

As far as I know, the two week period is over and classes should be back on. I have signed up for open gym, so I just went to the Very Serious Circus School as per usual and enjoyed the mostly-empty gym for the first week and part of the second -- after that, I was devoured by Thanksgiving plans. You should probably check with your instructor to make sure he/she/it will be around and getting paid. Apparently, the Very Serious Circus School nears insolvency regularly at this time of year, though this seems to be the first time that I know of that they abruptly had to stop classes and stop paying the teachers. People who paid for those two weeks and classes and are not getting their money back and teachers who were counting on those two weeks of work to pay their bills are rightfully upset.
