The Bride Stripped Bare Pt. V: Better Late Than Never

Aug 25, 2010 14:27

Thanks for brunch inclusion! It was T'AWESOME. (Even though it did, indeed, bail my evening plans...)

The gown is pretty amazing, lady (I saw!).

The gown is currently on display in my office, where it is being exclaimed over by my co-workers. It is astonishingly beautiful. The pictures of the whole ensemble haven't been posted yet, but when they are, I will pass them around.

Brunch very nearly put a halt to my evening plans as well. I can only drink so much champagne before passing out on my comfy, comfy couch. Thank you for coming by. It is always lovely to see you in the daytime.

SO, SO beautiful! Go bride-lady!

It is, indeed, lovely to see you and your cute place, complete with you guys bouncing on the couch to loud tunes and enthusiastic noises over decades-old videos from the Paradise....classic!

More again soon k thx. <3

Oh good, I was going to ask for photos. I look forward to seeing the fabulousness, and that level of attention to detail is truly marvelous.

I'm so sorry we missed lunch, and so delighted with everything about you, and your fabulous be-gowned-ness. Please say "seize him, my minions!" as often as possible. Hooray!

From the moment I saw L's work, I thought of you and your profound appreciation for meticulous attention to detail. My plan is to one day get the seamstress, our lovely painter friend, and yourself all into a room just to see what sort of beautiful thing you make. My head might explode from all the beauty.

Having spent part of last year watching it take shape, I must say... I can't wait to see the pictures!

I suspect that eventually there will be as many pictures of me wearing this getup as there are of me wearing the Edwardian bathing costume. I chose a color that I could wear to just about any fancy event and I had the whole thing made as separates, so they can be mixed and matched. I am looking forward to making a matching hat and wearing the ensemble to the Edwardian Ball in January.

The Edwardian Ball is a three-day tribute to Edward Gorey that takes place at the Regency Theater in January. Three days of events means three different costumes: I have my Edwardian bathing costume, the dress I usually wear to the Day of the Dead parade, and now I have the red gown.

Wow, what a gown!! Does your seamstress ever mentor people? :)

I think she has mentored people before, but she is having a baby right now, so I suspect that will take up most of her time. The next year of sewing is supposed to be devoted only to interesting, challenging, and experimental projects. I hope to convince her to work on a corset for me sometime next year.
