A Series of Tubes

This week I discovered the most terrifying words in the English language. They are: if your cat seizes, do we have permission to perform CPR? I understand that other people have heard words strung together with far more terrible implications. People die every day, slowly and quickly, in a thousand unfair and unforgiving ways. As a general rule, I ( Read more... )

I know. Sunday's class went especially well. I did many excellent meat hooks and Teeny showed me a new drop. On Tuesday, the plan is to do some bigger drops with more wraps. When you come back, we will have all kinds of new things to show you.

Happy news! She is a lucky cat. I'll spare you the story. But she is a lucky cat, with very good humans. EXCELLENT WORK!

She is awfully lucky. I know that the survival rate for cats with hepatic lipidosis is around 60%, even with aggressive treatment. Rejecting the nasal tube reduced Ada's chances even further. I was mortified when she wound up at the hospital again. I felt that I had done everything that had been asked of me - I'd followed elaborate and complicated instructions in order to take care of my cat and suddenly the vets were telling me that my cat might not make it through the night.

We try to be good humans - you should see the chart we're keeping - but sometimes being a good human is not enough.

When I first started reading this post, I got so scared for Ada and you and J. I was so relieved to see that she's doing much better at the end. Poor thing! I'm so glad that she's doing better now.

Your story about Bunki was fantastically helpful. It was a relief to read something from someone who had already been through this, including the vomiting and the medications and the runs.
