Whole Foods has tubs of rendered duck fat in the freezer section by the meat. And if it helps you and Alice feel better, apparently mac and cheese is the most common Thanksgiving side dish in the South. So while it might not be Your traditional Thanksgiving food, one could argue it is A traditional Thanksgiving food. Glad you had a successful, smooth day. Happy Thanksgiving!

I've been boycotting Whole Foods for about five years now, but if I know in advance that Dave's can't help me, I'll start looking at some of the other gourmet shops in the area before the Wednesday before Thanksgiving :)

And yes, mac & cheese being part of other people's traditions (which I found out from Gurinder Chadha's movie, Who's Cooking, oddly enough) was part of our conversation when we were deciding on the menu. I was so relieved that she likes it!
