This was a Day 1/Day 2 pair from Better Homes and Gardens' Essential Slow Cooker 2009 issue.
#20 Creamy Basil Chicken This was a little bland. Despite trebling the garlic, it still could have used more and I would also at least double the bacon/pancetta and basil. Salt and pepper, not listed in the ingredients, are also essential. There was too much broth--I would try cutting that by 2/3 if I made this again. Also, I'm not sure orzo was the right pasta here--I'd serve this over something more robust, maybe egg noodles.
#21 Chicken Chowder This was supposed to have wild rice in it, but since J. doesn't care for that, I went with orzo, which worked just fine. I ended up using the pint of leftover broth from the previous recipe. I skipped the celery--J.'s not a fan--and used more carrots and mushrooms. This would also have benefitted from more bacon. It's a tasty way to use up leftover chicken, but I've got other recipes (stracciatella!) for that, so I'm not sure I'll do this again.
