I've been really enjoying the Arlington farmers market this year. One of the things I like about it is that it narrows my choices without forcing them. Today, for example, one of the stands had squash blossoms. I've enjoyed them in restaurants, but never made them at home and our dinner guest this evening enjoys experiments, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I basically followed
this recipe, although I did add prosciutto into the filling. Deep frying always seems like such a waste of oil and I doubt I would do it again any time soon, but it did work just fine. I think in the future I would try using a much smaller amount of oil and seeing how that goes. Also, one egg and about 1/4 cup of flour would be plenty. But overall, very tasty, and pretty simple.
