Upgraded to a paid account: a question for my f-list

Feb 26, 2010 20:14

OK. Since I cancelled a subscription that I no longer needed I decided to upgrade my LJ account and see if paying for something a little better is worth it.

So far I've changed the skin. There weren't many in Luthor purples and most of them lack the tag list so I decided on this one. It isn't WOW! but it's not that bad. I'm thinking about creating ( Read more... )

LJ calls 'skin' an 'LJ Theme.' You can't add banners to all themes (as far as I know), but if you choose the Smooth Sailing, I know the code you'll need to add a banner to it. If you go to my LJ to have a look ( herohunter ), my theme is Smooth Sailing, but highly personalized. It originally looked like this: http://www.livejournal.com/customize/?layoutid=4601331&show= (second one on the second page, the Starry Night Smooth Sailing), so you can see how much I've changed it. I can also change the background image or color, just chose to go with a solid color for now.

If you decide to go with SS and need any help at all, lemme know, hon!

Thanks, Ash. Yes, I knew they called them themes- though the proper word is skin. I just called the LJ theme I chose a skin not to mistake it for a "mood" theme.:)

I thought not all skins allowed adding artwork and changing the background, so i was right. I've been looking for something transparent like the one I have on my website, which is the only kind that enables you to change the background image and such.

Thanks for the offer. I'll see what I can come up with.

How can one get the codes? Did you contact the original designer of yours?

No. Honestly, I Googled 'livejournal Theme Code Smooth Sailing' and found the LJ community that provides the codes. There is an LJ community for all Themes out there!

:D

Yes, one of the main motivations for the upgrade was to be able to upload more avatars. Editing comments and having access to the stats are also nice features.

Maybe you should try out Ash's suggestion, Google your theme to see if you can get codes to adjust it the way you like.

Yeah, I love that I can edit my comments now instead of having to post new ones.

I've got the codes, I just don't know what to do with them, nor where to change them. I'm horrible with technology. :/ I also want to make a new header using this manip because I don't like the one I've got up now.

You`ve fallen in love with the banner even though it isn't the one you originally planned. *grins* Kit and Hope have commented on the banner here and on NS. They both love "your" Laurie; they think she's really cute.

As regards the codes, I suppose you'd have to use the Customise Journal Style Option at Home. There seem to be different options available in the Presentation area depending on the theme you've picked.
