After reading the book Pre-Raphaelite Women Artists about 7 years ago, I came away with a strong admiration for Marie Spartali Stillman. Not only was she a stunner herself (posing as a model for Rossetti and other painters -- the poet Swinburne said of her, "She is so beautiful that I want to sit down and cry"), but she was also a very fine artist ( Read more... )

that is a beautiful painting, love the delicate tree in the background...

you do have an ancient greek muse look to you, I can see that absolutely.

Have you read The Memorials of Edward Burne Jones by Georgiana? It is amazing to read such a close account, but also a bit puzzlingly Victorian :)

I have not read it! I do remember reading (probably in The Pre-Raphaelite Sisterhood) how Georgie's memoirs of her husband simply ended one section, and took up the next at a somewhat later date, neatly skipping over the Maria Zambaco episode altogether. lol That's very Victorian indeed.
