I woke up at 9 pm, made some food, shaved and showered, and headed to Hudson at 10:30 pm to see New Moon at midnight. It was so nice to see a movie in a theater again! We sat in the very front row, which wasn't ideal...but wasn't horrible. The only other movie I've seen from the front row is Saving Private Ryan ( Read more... )

movies, books

I finally saw Twilight, 2x in the last two nights... mainly because Jamie is addicted to the books so she was all over the movie and after my doc appt we're supposed to go see the new movie today... based on just the movies and not having read any of the books and going in blind to the whole Twilight thing... I'm not wowed or impressed... BUT what I know of Jacob is intriguing but the movies seem more to appease the existing fans than to bring in new ones. Twilight seemed very CW low-budget teenybopper fluff to me.

IMO, New Moon was 100x better than Twilight (movies, not books). I think this is more due to there being a new director. I felt that the first half of Twilight was super awkward and that most of the special effects were cheesy as hell. I'm happy to report that New Moon is not awkward and only has one cheesy effect. Kristen Stewart is still a bad actress, though. ;)

I'm glad to hear that NM is better from someone who is not a psycho fangirl [my co-worker has already seen the movie twice and won't SFTU about it and Edward] because I thought Twilight was horrible. I'll still probably wait for one of my friends to buy the DVD to see NM, like I did with Twilight.

I read all the books and the whole time the misogyny was literally metaphorically [haha] killing me...Bella is a total 'Mary Sue' - aren't you impressed I know a 'gamer' word without ever playing a game? Haha. The books for me were like a train wreck, I couldn't stop reading them even though I knew it would be bad in the end to have done. The last book made me want to erase my brain.

Hudson is probably my favorite place in Wisconsin! And it 'coincidentally' marks the beginning of the end of the state!

Hahaha @ Mary Sue. The term is used a lot in the comics world as well. :D

This was my first time to Hudson. Sadly, there wasn't much exploring to be done.
