Home again, home again, jiggedy jog

I'm in!

You know, after the inefficiency of, oh, EVERYTHING in the Dominican Republic, I'm awestruck by how quickly stuff gets done here in Canada. Cable Guy was coming to hook up Internet between 8-11 -- he's been and gone. Movers are supposed to start at noon -- but I let them know I was done early with the other apt, and they're going to try to ( Read more... )

Those are the coolest windows ever! (Wow, that sounded dumb... but it's true! I love them!)

Not dumb at all -- I think the same thing! Course most of 'em are painted shut, but what the hell!

Beautiful space! Sorry about the closets, but that is the tradeoff with vintage buildings. You get all these cool details and nooks, but you have to get creative with the storage. I'm on my third 80+ year old building, and I've come to love the vintage art deco armoire I bought off a friend who was moving. May I suggest heading to a local flea market?

Happy move day!

Thank you so much! And yes, I'm discovering the little "features" like the hidden ironing board and the enclave around the front windows are making it difficult to place bookshelves and stuff. But I think it'll be lovely when I get done.

Flea market's a great idea ... I'll have to wait for spring for that, but I'll definitely keep my eyes open.

You are safe and have a lovely lovely apt! (In the snow, oh well...)

Beautiful!

Yes, but heat is paid for. ;)

And looking out at the snow through leaded glass windows is actually quite nice!

And I do feel safe and comfortable and very lucky! Thanks for your kind thoughts through all this!

It looks lovely. I grew up with hardwood floors, and miss them.

Someone took the aged gas heater out of the fireplace; that's good. Now you can put a plant there or something. *g*

Can you believe I've only had hardwood floors once before in my life? And it was one of my early places in college, and I didn't even appreciate them! Now I love them.

And yes! A plant, that's exactly what I was thinking for that spot. A friend suggested a set of candles, but that just seemed too pathetic in place of a real fire.

And does the thought of Murphy and irons make you feel a little warmer too?

Hee :D

The new place is beautimous! That little telephone nook reminds me of Keeping Up Appearances, every time you answer the phone, you must start off with,"Bucket (pronounced Bouquet!) Residence, lady of the house speaking..." LOL

Seriously though, the place looks wonderful, darling ;)

Thank you! And I'll take that phone answering tip under advisement.
