PTSD is miserable. I hope you find what you need, I'm still working on it.

I've found meds that really help. I started on prazosin, which is a blood pressure med also used in the States for PTSD-related nightmares, and it's amazing. I'm still having crazy vivid dreams, but without the lingering panic-adrenaline rush that keeps me up for hours. If I didn't actually have high blood pressure, though, my doc wouldn't have prescribed it, because it's not even known as a treatment here despite its wide use in the US.

My fury right now is directed at the fact that not only are the docs here completely clueless, but there is no specific survivor support except for one organisation for people who suffered abuse through the Catholic church, and guess who runs it? The Catholic church. It's fair enough that a great many PTSD survivors in this country were abused at the hands of the church, but there needs to be a group not only *by* survivors but *for* survivors, that covers everyone, even those of us whose trauma didn't come from the church.
