Oddly, I think it was Peter holding a baby that started this whole thing! One of my fav moments of SCC is when Derek, this super tough future resistance soldier held a baby so when I saw that picture it was like DING!

Glad you liked it! I just spent a lot of time thinking about my two fav shows and that led to noticing certain similarities.

Glad you liked it despite not knowing SCC. If you find the time you should watch it, it's a GREAT series and better than all the movies COMBINED. (Plus, SUMMER GLAU!)

I would also add- both had ok first seasons and awesome second seasons. Though that seems to be a more general trend.

I guess they needed time to draw in their audiences and find the right rhythm of writing. (Although after re-watching the first series after seeing the second, it's amazing how much both shows packed in with regards to foreshadowing and character development and I think both shows knew where they were going with the mythology of the story and character motivations from the very start.)
