Ooh, this is really good! I love your insight into Simon & Kaylee's relationship, the differences and how it changes. Everything here is really unique and I think you did the slang really well - it wasn't intrusive and it's just enough to pull you into the firefly world and add to the atmosphere. I'm gonna rec this too; it's really interesting and pretty in it's angsty-ness!

This is awesome. I love that angsty/reflective tone, and how it kind of frames Kaylee's resignation against her strength (she's hurt but she doesn't feel "broken" at all). Great story!

Thanks. It was hard giving her strength, because her character doesn't have as much to begin with, as say Karen. She will stand up to Simon if he insults the ship, but she often felt inferior with him I think. So I wanted her to break that cycle and define happiness on her own terms.
