While Beth is still very sick, after five weeks of testing, they've finally ruled out ovarian cancer. They're starting treatment to day for H. pylori infection, a severe bacterial infection of the small intestine and stomach which can lead to damage to the stomach lining, bleeding ulcers and stomach cancer. This will be the eighth day straight I've worked on the press, often late into the night so the break this weekend in Asheville is perfect timing. The sessions with Shaggy on his concept poetry/art book are amazing: brainstorming at it's quickest and he's come up with some ingeniuos quirky ideas which are actually doable. Wow - I've had the jitters all morning - but one thhing has turned out well. Shadow Archer Press will soon be in possession of a circa 1900 book binding press! I am so excited. Shocking morning. I went out to clean up debris in my garden and stand things up again after yesterdays crazy storm and lo and behold my Hades pit has opened. Yup - I have a great sink hole in my yard which even swallowed a small tree.
