This desperately needs a comment. It's interesting, something I've never seen before, and has me looking forward to your Big Bang. I especially liked that Dean was a Rottweiler, although I'd probably have gone with German Shepherd.
Well one of the pages I found stated that Rottweilers were considered in the top ten of most intelligent dogs so...
And then there's this personality profile I found on the breed profile for Rottweilers:
Rottweilers are a German breed so they tend to be of a serious nature. The ideal Rottweiler is quiet, even-tempered, obedient, easy to train, faithful and brave. This breed should show a strong understanding of what is right and wrong if trained and guided by a responsible and involved owner. This is a physically strong breed that will leap to the defense of the ones they love. For this reason training and socializing is mandatory for the Rottweiler to succeed in life. These are working dogs that need a job. Boredom can lead to behavior problems. The Rottweiler personality and activity levels vary from dog to dog. Genetics, training, socializing, and the care they receive are a large part of what determines each dog's personality.
All of which seem to fit for Dean as far as I can see*g*
I just found this through a post on supernaturalstoryfinders.
Let me tell you that this must be one of the. Most. Adorable. Stories I've ever read!
I love Bobby in this. He is just soo Bobby! I could easily imagine it as really being Dean and Bobby (he always was Bobby's favourite, after all). And little Dean (the pup as well as the boy) is so bloody heartbreaking. How did I not find this story earlier??
Now I'm mad looking forward to reading The Dog Who Belonged To Himself!
Oh, and I thing Rottweiler is the perfect choice for dog!Dean. :)

I like the POV. Bobbys thoughts are so clear in this, so much like Bobby in the show. That's very very good!
