WoW. Aside from the part about your grandmother (and I hope everything turns out well there) I've been writing this exact same post in my head for *months* I just couldn't find the time to polish it up and type it.

Sorry to hear about your Grandmother and yes! Buffy is the Slayer which automatically means powerful and strong. And IMO that's exactly why Spike likes her so much.

There does seem to be a general lack of innovation at the moment. It is perhaps not that people should write these things, but how they approach them and how they can make them original and believeable.

I don't read much in the way of Spuffy fics but weak Buffy is a big turn off for me too (and probably would have been for Spike).

Re: Spideyfic, Marvel outside the X-titles has never had strong fanfic bases. X-Men developed a strong 'Net fandom in the mid-90s, and even now, a lot of the Xfic is still rooted in that time period. X-Men had a lot of advantages from the start, with a large female fanbase and of course lots of people crossing over to comics from watching the animated series ( ... )
