It's kind of odd, isn't it? Even here in Japan, everyone seems to be following the primaries; even if they're not following really closely, they at least know the basics of what's going on. Back when I was teaching, probably one in four classes I'd end up talking about the election and the primaries with the student. I was actually coming in early and skimming the politics section of the NYTimes before classes started so I wouldn't be caught out of the loop if a student wanted to talk about it, haha.
