Tahiti Socks? DONE!

Apr 27, 2006 08:18

I finished my Tahiti socks yesterday while waiting for Hubby to get done with teaching his early evening class. I did the Kitchener stitch at the campus library, where there was no TV, radio, or anyone about to interrupt me! Aside from originally twisting the stitches tranferring them from my Addis to two DPNs, it went swell. They feel great and if ( Read more... )

The socks look great!!! I never got past swatching for mine, I need to get moving on those... :D

I'm so happy we got to catch up yesterday - I really needed it. I feel a lot less grumpy today - sometimes I just need to talk to someone who gets it. :P

Me too! I feel like I can finally let go of some of that anger leftover from the other day. Thanks for being there and getting it too :)

Why, pray tell (and please excuse my ignorance, doubtless fueled by my posession of a Y chromosome (is that a sexist remark (and if it is, does anyone here really care?)?) (and yes, this is just an excuse to indulge my (somewhat oddball) passion for stacked parenthetical digressions)) why are they called "Tahiti socks" ? It eludes me to understand why one would wish to wear knitted woolen hosiery on a tropical island.

Oh, that's what the makers of the yarn named that colorway: Cascade Fixation, Tahiti!

Knit (knit) Knit (knit)
Knittin' yarn!

We can knit if we wanna
We can make some socks for you
'cause your feet are bare
And if you don't care
Well you'll catch a cold 'tis true

We can knit if we wanna
We can burn through skeins of yarn
We can knit all we've found
And if no more's around
There's plenty of sheep in the barn

We can knit, we can knit
Needles are clickin' real loud
We can knit, we can knit
Wear a new scarf and you're proud
We can knit, we can knit
Get the yarn away from the cat
We can knit, we can knit
Everyone needs a new hat

Knittin' yarn
It's a knittin' yarn
It's a knittin' yarn!

With apologies to Men Without Hats, who, if they had learned to knit, wouldn't have to be without hats, now would they!
