who knew weeds could be so pretty! i love getting up close to flowers and seeing what beauty nature has to offer in the cracks of sidewalks and in the middle of fields

we had to take in one of the trees we bought last fall as it had bit the dust. thankfully they have a policy that if you lose a tree the first year you can get a replacement. the tree was a goodland apple and we picked up a dolgo crabapple instead. they are supposed to be a bit hardier and i love crabapples ( Read more... )

the hubby and i went out for a bike ride on the new bike today with one of my sisters (and hubby). before we took off, i took some pics of the huge sunflowers in the yard. and when i say huge, i mean 10-12 feet. i had to stretch my arm waaaay up to get some shots:

so lately while driving about we've noticed this huge patch of sunflowers. its kind of in the middle of nowhere by some construction. we think it may be a wild garden that was left to seed when the area was rezoned.

not a great picture, but you get the idea of the size of the patch
