Random Love and Bitching

If you have someone on your flist, if you've gone to the trouble of actually friending them and they've friended you, that would imply that you'd have a bit of tact when talking to them, right? Like, say they made a post you didn't agree with, you wouldn't jump the gun and start attacking them, would you? I admit, I've been known to accidentally ( Read more... )

I definitely think some tact is important...unless you have an established relationship with someone on your flist that permits bitching and venting without worry about judgement.

I definitely want to see The Losers. I've heard that it's good.

There's a difference between bitching/venting and out right attacking, though. Oh well, it's all a matter of perspective. 4 witnesses will give you 5 different versions of an event or something like that.

I thought it was very good, myself.

Hope it's not me :p I have been getting my hate on for certain Buffy/Angelverse characters a whole lot lately and I know most of my SV flisters don't agree at all.

It's not the ranter that pissed me off, it's one of the people who commented to the rant so, no, it definitely wasn't you.

No one was mean to me. It was someone commenting on another person's rant in a way I found really unnecessary.

I find that most people on these types of sites, for all their request for a response to their postings, can't take the hint. You ask for peoples opinions, then get upset when you receive them. Just like in life, everyone will not agree with you , and have their on ideas. I take it that most write fices because they enjoy them, and they get to express things in print, that they might not explore in real life. So if you put it out their for the world to see or view, and ask what they think, expect feedback. I thought that is how people get others views on things, and hopefully, take it to heart and improve. If they can't take it, they should not put it out there.

I also agree with you, if they are a "friend" you would think the mindset was similiar.

This wasn't about a fic. Someone was ranting about a real life issue, then was attacked on their own journal for that rant by someone who they had mutually friended. Even if it had been a fic, the manner in which this person commented was very aggressive and in no way just a statement of opinion. It was a personal attack.

It's not a case of not having a similar mindset, it's a case of the commenter lacking anything resembling common courtesy and decency.

Ok, misunderstood, and sorry for that, but it still kinds of applies. I understand people want to rant, view their issues, but if you put it out there, you have to expect all kinds of reactions and responses.

No, it doesn't apply. It's a dick move and people should be free to rant in a flocked post without being unfairly attacked. I refuse to blame the victim for someone being an ass and refusing to act like a semi-reasonable human being. Do you find it acceptable to comment on your flists' posts attacking them for their views?
