It's strange, but I have been shipping "best friend" pairings since I was fourteen years old.  In my RL, I have been carrying on an intensely painful, on-again/off-again Thing with my own best friend since I was thirteen.  I think what I originally liked about slashing the couples I do was that, because they were often/always best friends but,
