Birthdays are best when celebrated for more than one day...

Finally, my belated birthday present for sealover_astara! I have to apologize -- it's not super-cheerful, but I was hit with such a powerful attack of inspiration that I just HAD to write this. :) I hope you like it...and I'll add a title as long as I have one. *chuckle*

The story was inspired by the two quotes below, and a little by one of your own fanfics, ( Read more... )

Wonderful! The OCs are delightful, and I particularly like the bit about Sûliel being able to read Denethor's posture. The descriptions of the carving are beautiful too. I really enjoyed reading this!!

Thank you so much! :) I've grown very fond of both my new OCs, you know. *chuckle* I'm really glad you like the story!

Umm...can I email it to you so you can have a look at the grammar and stuff when you have a minute? *puppy dog eyes*

Happy New Year! :)

Thanks so much for the sweet comment! :)

It was Suliel that got this story moving, you know -- like a finishing touch to a statue, one might say. *giggle* And I'm so happy you liked this Denethor!

And yeah, Rangers. :-D

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. What a brilliant piece of writing.

I love how Denethor's sorrow, and his need to leave a tribute, combine with his efforts to learn a new skill.

I also love how people who work in stone are so clever in reading living flesh and blood.

This was brilliant, Lilan!

Thanks a lot!!

I like to think that Denethor would be a good learner, even with, like in this case, a teacher who's very far from being his equal. After all, our dear Steward is as patient as a spider, right? ;)

people who work in stone are so clever in reading living flesh and blood.

Now that I think of that bit again, I think I was on some level influenced by a biorgaphy of Michelangelo, in which the great artist secretly went and cut up dead bodies to study the human anatomy. Not sure if my OCs would ever do that, but they'd definitely observe the living. :)
