I'm SO glad that I wasted a night of perfectly good sleep on... that! :/ I'm never watching the Oscars again. Or until next year anyway. :p
( Read more... )
I didn't stay awake because 1) I never watch the Oscars anyway; 2) I didn't want to jinx it. Sadly it didn't work this time...
Back to our beloved country, I'm disappointed in Catzavencu's movie "chronicle" too... Though they've always had problems with the gay, so I shouldn't be too surprised... Meh.
Why not? They're fun! Well, not last night, but they usually are! ;) Oh and don't worry, I think it was jinxed for the beginning. I mean, ALL that ghei omf... ;)
OK, so NO Catzavencu BBM review for me, thanks for letting me know! I like them too much, I don't want a reason to stop reading them. Because I would, you know! But then again, what did you expect, they're nothing more than a bunch of straight guys afraid that watching AND liking BBM will totally emasculate them... MEH.
That's what cleolinda had to say about it and I think she says it all...
I should have seen the upset coming--geographical (Crash is set in LA) and generational (word on the street is that some older voters, and the Academy is pretty old in general, weren't comfortable even watching Brokeback, much less voting for it)? Yeah, that's about the way of it. The bottom line, however, is that Oscar does, in fact, know how to quit you, Brokeback. It was a good run, but it looks like it's time to go home.
BBM lost?! *blinkblink* wtf, I was so certain it would win I didn't even bother to check the news, I was sure they'd get everything they were nominated for... Woah. my mum did have a strange grin when she asked me if i wanted to know who'd won; "are you sure? ooo-kay". boo her :( That's so Quidditch World Cup in GoF (wth? I typed QaF first =)) ) - it leaves you speechless >_> Oh, well, everyone knows the movie rocked so...
Hmm. My reasoning is that (as I told another friend) everyone saw the movie and knows how good/bad it is and would an Oscar change that? We know it was good and we also know it deserved the Oscar. But y'know, this kind of recognition isn't exactly everything so... I wouldn't want to get that pissed over something like that.. or. yah. *hugs* Cookies? :)
I share the pain, hon. Why were there only 3 songs nominated for best song? There used to be more nominated songs in the past, I believe. And BM was so robbed of that Oscar. Darn. And no acting Awards? Are they nuts?
I don't know, something about a 4th song being disqualified or something... Anyway, when the best song of the evening it's a Dolly Parton song, you KNOW something's very wrong with that evening! ;)
Yeah, apparently both George Clooney and Philip Seymour Hoffman were better than Jake and Heath... I can't even argue with that, sadly, I haven't seen Syriana or Capote. But now I intend to! Meh, I'm still upset. Stupid stupid Academy.
Oh... a song disqualified? Did not hear about that one... oh well. And funny, the Dolly Parton song really was the only good song there. Weird and spooky. Can't really argue with that as well, as I also have yet to see these movies. But I for one loved Heath and Jake.

Brokeback Mountain was predicted by everyone and their nanas to win Best Picture if nothing else, since before nominations were even out.
That was some crap.
The Academy are haters sucks.

Yay for Reese winning though. That was cool. And for King Kong/Richard Taylor/PJ-affiliations winning. Other than that? It was a farce. A Farce!!
Or you know, a waste of 3.5 hours of perfectly good tv watching time I will never get back.
Crash? Pfft.
